In this interview Roya Hakakian talks about the freedom of art in post-revolution Iran. As she lived through the 1979 revolution and following years in Tehran, her personal insights and thoughts on the ban of music and poetry among other things, are invaluable and important part of history.
Roya Hakakian is an award winning poet and writer. Her most notable publications include The Journey From The Land Of No and Assassins Of The Turqoise.
This interview gives great background information for my documentary film Persian Black Metal Story that will be published later this year.
